If your account looks lower than what you put in, it's because of how prices are now shown in GigaStar Portfolio and GigaStar Trading. Your money is not missing.
This FAQ explains what changed and why.
Refresher: What is a CRT?
CRT stands for Channel Revenue Token. A CRT is a digital token. It gives you the right to a share of a YouTube channel's future revenue, if the channel earns it.
Why does my account look lower than what I invested?
Your funds are not missing. Two things are going on. First, GigaStar Portfolio now shows a different price for some of your CRTs. Second, prices work differently on GigaStar Market than on GigaStar Trading.
What changed in GigaStar Portfolio?
GigaStar Portfolio used to show your CRTs at the price you paid in the first offering. Now it shows the last price someone paid for that CRT on GigaStar Trading. This gives you a more current picture of what your CRTs are worth today.
Does this change apply to all of my CRTs?
No. It only applies to CRTs that can be traded and are being traded on GigaStar Trading. All your other CRTs still show the price from the first offering.
What is the difference between GigaStar Market and GigaStar Trading?
GigaStar Market is the primary market. This is where a CRT is first offered and sold. GigaStar Trading is the secondary market. This is where investors buy and sell CRTs from each other later on. The two are separate companies.
How are CRTs priced when they are first offered?
During a first offering on GigaStar Market, the price can be based on the value of the Creator's channel.
When can I trade my CRTs?
CRTs bought in a first offering must be held for 12 months. This is called a lockup period. It is required by a rule called Reg CF (Regulation Crowdfunding). After 12 months, your CRTs can be traded on GigaStar Trading.
How are prices set on GigaStar Trading?
Prices are set by supply and demand. This is called price discovery. A price can go up or down because of:
- How the market is doing
- How much money the Creator's channel made in the last 12 months
- How many buyers and sellers there are
Because of this, your CRTs may be worth more or less than what you first paid.
Does GigaStar Trading set or protect prices?
No. GigaStar Trading is a digital Alternative Trading System (ATS) registered with the SEC. It matches buyers with sellers. It does not set prices, promise a certain value, trade in the market itself, or step in to hold prices up.
Why are GigaStar Market and GigaStar Trading separate companies?
They follow different laws and rules. Keeping them separate helps each one meet its own legal requirements.
Where can I learn more about trading prices?
The GigaStar Trading FAQ has more answers, including:
- How are prices determined?
- How are different CRT tiers handled in secondary trading?
- Do Creators (Issuers) control secondary market pricing?
